We feel fortunate to be announcing a new collaboration!
Between The Piedmont Guy (our friendly Importer) and Angelo Negro that is suited to these supremely strange times. This project has been years in the making. Angelo Negro Unfiltered Bianco, which has met with great success over the years, now has an equally cloudy and chuggable sibling by the name of Unfiltered Rosso.
Cue the 2019 vintage of Angelo Negro Unfiltered Rosso. This is the happy result of a green estate with 350 years of viticultural experience choosing to flip the script on red-wine norms in the Roero. In fact, dry Brachetto aged on the lees of Arneis has no precedent. Negro's newest bottling is not bound by any DOC/DOCG rules or regulations restricting this unfiltered wine's deliciousness. (One could say the same of the winery's Unfiltered Bianco.) Here are some key points:
100% dry Brachetto
All estate fruit sourced from the calcareous-sandy soils of the Roero—see attached photo
Native ferment
Aged on the lees of Arneis (!)
Unfiltered, unfined
12.5% ABV
BTG-friendly
A delightful addition to our growing category of crunchy, chillable reds
