Trailblazing excellence carried on by Alain Graillot’s son, Maxime Graillot

Alain Graillot inspired the next generation of Northern Rhone vignerons with unpretentious expertise, that over time, garnered acclaim and utmost respect worldwide. His son, Maxime, with big shoes to fill, not only followed in his footsteps but created his own path to incredible wines. His experiences in South Africa, Burgundy and with Alain shaped his career and eventually led him to purchasing land adjacent to his father to start his own domaine. In 2008, Maxime began running the family estate alongside his own. He developed his own style rooted in the tradition passed down to him. He converted his new conventionally farmed land to organic and sustainable. His wines matured in Alain’s cellar where each estate’s barrels were separated by a line of paint on the floor.

Maxime carries on the legacy of his father and showcases exuberant wines from his own domaine, Equis. His practices include 100% de-stemming, hand pigeage and malolactic fermentation in barrel. Beyond that the wines develop in cask for 12 months with minimal intervention.
